This year Hoppers Crossing dance studio Millennium Dance Concepts are dancing into their teen years as they turn 13.
Director of the dance studio Chantelle Pozzuto was only 18 when she first opened the studio in Wyndham.
“I’ve danced since the age of two and I’ve always been in the industry,” Ms Pozzuto said.
“I love teaching kids and passing on my knowledge to others,” she said.
With five teachers, 150 students and over 30 dance classes per week the school has already achieved a lot.
“When I was 8 I told my dance teacher that I was going to take over her dance studio when I was older,” laughed Ms Pozzuto.
The dance school has a number of different dance classes and teaches a large variety of genres including jazz, musical theatre, hip hop and classical ballet.
Ms Pozzuto said the school was committed to providing young people of diverse backgrounds with opportunities to receive professional training in all facets of the performing arts.
“We’ve had kids with special needs dance here, we don’t exclude anyone from classes,” Ms Pozzuto said.
“We’ve also worked with the Education Department and the Department of Housing to help those kids who are less fortunate, so we can work out an option for them to pursue their love of dancing,” she said.
“Everyone here is part of our family, I treat them like they are my extended my kids.”
The school takes part in the annual Weerama Festival and was also part of the Moomba Parade this year.
The school will have a mid-year performance next week showcasing all the dancers who are as young as two years old.
