Free legal advice for residents

Wyndham Legal Services and Wyndham’s four libraries have joined forces to introduce a pilot program to help residents receive free advice when lodging complaints online.
The Library Assisted Dispute Lodgement Service is a free program starting tomorrow at the Plaza, Werribee, Point Cook and Wyndham Vale libraries.
The program has been introduced as an advice gateway for access to justice for residents living in isolated suburbs.
Community Lawyer of Wyndham Legal Services Marijana Graljuk said the aim of the program was to provide access to justice for all residents.
“It will ensure that outer suburban individuals have the opportunity to come into the libraries and have assistance from us,” Ms Graljuk said.
“There will be staff as well as librarians there to assist the users with lodging their complaints online,” she said.
Ms Graljuk said residents can expect to be fully assisted when trying to lodge online complaints.
She said librarians and legal staff will assist residents in understanding where their complaints need to be directed, including the Telecommunications Ombudsman, Consumer Affairs Victoria and the Health Services Commissioner, and what to write in their complaints.
“Residents will know where to go in the future and become aware that there is a system available online and they will also become aware of us, the Wyndham Legal Service,” Ms Graljuk said.
“And if they have a bigger issue or need assistance following lodging their issue online they know the Wyndham Legal Service is available,” she said.
Clinics will run throughout the month of July in each library in Wyndham and is free for all residents.
Free ‘How To Complain (Online)’ Manuals will also be available.
