Delia Portlock has been so overwhelmed by the support and generosity of the community and she wants to say thank you.
As Star reported earlier this month, Ms Portlock was victim to a cruel crime which involved her groceries being stolen from her scooter.
Ms Portlock, who lives with an acquired brain injury after she was involved in a car accident in 1986, relies on her scooter for mobility.
Ms Portlock had bought a large amount of groceries from a local Woolworths supermarket when she realised she had forgot something.
She stepped inside the Woolworths for only a couple of minutes only to return to an empty basket.
The manager of the store, Vicky, asked Ms Portlock to re-pick all the items, giving them to her for free.
Since the story appeared in Star Ms Portlock has been flooded with the generosity of friends and locals.
And now she wants to publicly say thank you.
“I just want to say a great big thank you to the people who read the story and responded,” Ms Portlock said.
“It’s restored my faith and I’m very, very, very grateful,” she said.
“The poor act of one human being has just brought out so many really great qualities in my friends and the community.”
