WYNDHAM’s annual street planting program has launched across the municipality this month.
During August and September, 2500 trees will be planted along nature strips and walkways to create tree-lined avenues.
The trees will provide shade for streets, create leafy green neighbourhoods and also provide habitat for local birdlife and animals.
Each street will receive species of trees most suited to the area and which have the best opportunity to improve the local amenity.
Chaffey Ward Councillor Gautam Gupta said tree planting was taking place across the cooler months to give the plants time to establish before summer.
“This year we will be planting trees across new suburbs and more established areas making streets, roads and parks greener and providing many long term benefits for residents,” Cr Gupta said.
