SANCTUARY Lakes residents have funded their own crime fighting tools that will hopefully help make the area an even safer place.
As of last week two specially equipped security vehicles with on-board cameras, emergency warning lights and life-saving defibrillators for medical emergencies hit the roads in the area.
The vehicles are part of an $800,000 security and safety system.
General Manager of Sanctuary Lakes Resort Services, which is responsible for the management of the security program, Tony Ferreri, said the new vehicles will patrol the estate 24 hours a day.
“These security vehicles provide a timely link to emergency services as well as being able to provide on the spot assistance to residents,” Mr Ferreri said.
Mr Ferreri said that the new patrol vehicles also complement the internal security and safety alarm systems in homes connected to the central security monitoring system where home owners have an emergency button in the home to request a response from the roving security units.
“These security systems also provide alerts to fire and burglaries,” he said.
“In one case a home owner had left a stove on, leaving to play golf and was surprised to receive a message on the 9th tee that security was in attendance at his home in response to a potential fire hazard.”
The CCTV component of the Sanctuary Lakes security program also provides both the internal security network and local authorities with intelligence as vehicles entering and leaving the area are identified using number plate recognition technology and time stamped surveillance.
