ANOTHER Wyndham business has closed its doors, with Warehouse Sales on Old Geelong Rd believed to have gone into liquidation.
Customers and staff were left stranded after the Hoppers Crossing store shut down without any warning.
Calls to the business went unanswered last week and their website was also down, with a message reading that it was unavailable due to maintenance.
Several irate customers vented their frustrations on the businesses’ facebook page last week.
“Thanks for shutting up shop and leaving us $1100 out of pocket Warehouse Sales, makes us think twice about shopping locally,” one man wrote last week.
“Why have some of your stores closed in Victoria without warning… and leaving customers who have paid for goods wanting questions answered?” another added.
The company has four stores around Victoria, with 70 people believed to be employed by the business.
Star understands that at least one person with 37 years of service at the Hoppers Crossing store has been left without a job due to the closure.
It comes as more and more business in the Wyndham area have been going public about the stresses on the local economy.
In August Star revealed that the Bridge Hotel in Werrribee, an iconic building that has stood in the area since the 1920s, was being put up for sale.
Owner Barry Main said stresses like the local economy and the new fire services levy had left him struggling to keep the business viable.
