SHE may be young but Scarlett Saxon-Jones is on her way to the big stage.
The Werribee Primary School student has been selected in the School Sport Victoria state cricket team.
The side, which is made up of some of the best young female cricketers in the state, will compete in the School Sport Australia Cricket Championships in Bendigo.
Saxon-Jones impressed coaches throughout a long selection process, which began in February. She also performed brilliantly in a series of trial games run by Cricket Victoria and School Sport Victoria.
The 12-year-old will now join team-mates to play in practice matches and training sessions before the championships in January.
Saxon-Jones is also the only team member to be selected from the western metro region.
