STUDENTS from Al-Taqwa College in Tarneit worked whole-heartedly last week helping improve the community.
The students participated in a $6 million landscaping project at one of Wyndham’s newest residential community The Heartlands.
The students worked together along the banks of the wetlands planting hundreds of trees, shrubs and grasses.
The students were among the first visitors to the wetlands and parklands, which are part of the new amenities that will be opened to the growing community in coming months.
Earlier this year the students also worked closely with an artist to design a park bench which was added to The Heartlands facilities and can also be enjoyed by the community.
“They absolutely love getting in touch with the community and being able to show what they’ve done it the community,” said Al Taqwa Marketing Coordinator Michelle Dimech.
“The students love getting out there and doing things for the community,” she said.
Ms Dimech said the students’ contribution was something they could share with family and friends and be proud of.
The Heartlands offers hectares of parkland with both active and passive zones fit for recreational use.
In the coming weeks an exclusive residents’ only recreational facility will also open, offering a lap pool, children’s paddling pool and gym equipment.
