A POINT Cook youngster has been announced as showing the best spirit of tennis, earning her $5000 and a visit from sporting royalty.
Seven-year-old Jayla Tran was named the MLC Tennis Hot Shot of the Year last week for her participation, enthusiasm and enjoyment of the game.
Along with 11 other nominees for the award she was treated to a VIP Australian Open Experience, including an exclusive opportunity to play at Rod Laver Arena, before watching today’s best players battle it out.
“We’re all having such a fantastic time in Melbourne at the Australian Open and winning the MLC Hot Shot of the Year award has made it even better,” Jayla said.
“We’ve had the chance to see some of our favourite players on court, we will have a hit on Rod Laver Arena and hang out with Alicia Molik.”
“Our coaches have taught us lots of different tennis skills this year so it was amazing to watch some of the best players in the world compete at the Australian Open.”
As the overall winner, Jayla received $5,000 thanks to MLC, one year of free tennis coaching and a visit from MLC Tennis Hot Shots Ambassador Alicia Molik to her local tennis club for a private lesson with three friends.
MLC Tennis Hot Shots is Tennis Australia’s official development program specifically designed for primary school-aged children.
