A HOPPERS Crossing woman is hoping to be crowned the winner of a beauty pageant and head to the USA to represent Australia.
Laura Bradley moved to Wyndham Vale from Ireland when she was 14-years-old.
She is now living in Hoppers Crossing where she works as a dental nurse.
Ms Bradley entered the Miss Galaxy Pageant last year and reached the State Finals, but this year, she was hoping to take it all the way.
“As soon as I entered the pageant and saw what it was like I loved it and I thought this is what I was born to do,” Ms Bradley said.
“This year I’ve got a bit more knowledge up my sleeve. Last year was all about learning but this year I just want to achieve something.”
As part of competing in the pageants, Ms Bradley has been required to undertake charity work, using her skills as a dental nurse to provide care to indigenous people in a remote area of the Northern Territory.
She said people who have never been to a pageant might be surprised at how different it is to what they expect.
“The thing that I was most surprised by was how different all the people competing are,” she said.
“I expected them all to be really tall blonde girls who are just glittered out to the max, but they are just really genuine people.
“They’re all different heights, nationalities and they are all just so beautiful in their own ways.”
Ms Bradley has been announced as a finalist for Victoria and will compete in the Miss Galaxy Pageant in April this year.
