THE Werribee Tigers Masters Football Club is looking forward to what could be its biggest year yet.
The Super Rules club has moved from Chirnside Park to nearby Wyndham Vale North Reserve and can now enjoy much improved football and social facilities.
“We weren’t getting consistent training nights, so with this new move we’re going to have our own set training nights and training times and a much bigger and better social facility,” club president Jason Bezzina said.
“The biggest thing for us is because we’re a masters football club, we train two nights a week, and it’s a little bit about football but it’s also a lot about the social side.
“So we’ve got really good social facilities now and things we’ve never had before like a social room that overlooks the ground, so whether it’s wet, cold or sunny, the ladies will have somewhere nice to watch the footy.
“We’re also going to have our own bar with things like tap beer and all that sort of stuff.”
The Tigers have now teamed up with the Wyndham Vale Sports Club and will retain their Werribee Tigers moniker and colours.
Training has already begun for the upcoming metropolitan AFL Masters season and takes place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
Brett Cook and John Radcliffe will both be coaching the over-35s team, while the Tigers will also be fielding over-40s and over-47s teams this year.
The new season begins in late April.
