WYNDHAM residents are being encouraged to experience Werribee’s newest event which will see music, picnics and children’s entertainment all combine to create the perfect evening.
The Werribee Chamber of Commerce is organising the Picnic in the Park in conjunction with Wyndham Council’s Busk at Dusk event to be held on 28 February.
President of the Chamber and owner of Tonia T Boutique in Watton St, Tone Tribe, told Star the event was all about creating a friendly and relaxed atmosphere in the centre of Werribee.
She said the event, which would be held on the lawn next the Werribee cenotaph, would act as a preamble to the Weerama Festival and it would hopefully create a similar community feeling as Yarraville’s iconic pop up park.
“We’re basically just hoping that people come down to the park, bring a picnic if they want to, and enjoy some really nice music,” Ms Tribe said.
“It’s about creating a really great vibrancy and energy in the town. We want to have an event that has a bit of a cultured angle to it.”
Ms Tribe said she hoped the event would be the start of something bigger and it would be welcomed by members of the community.
Picnic in the Park will be held on Friday 28 February from 6-9pm and it will include live entertainment from buskers, a giant chess set and a giant connect four set, games of bocce and face-painting for children.
