Swag of medals for Western Athletes

IT IS easy to get the feeling Western Athletics members enjoy a bit of gold.
Across three different championships last month, the club was able to dominate en route to an impressive medal tally.
At the Victorian Masters Championships, 11 Western Athletics team members combined for 15 gold medals, nine silver medals and four bronze medals.
At the Australian Masters Championships, two competitors combined for five gold medals, one silver medal and one bronze medal.
One of the standout individual performances came from Allan Cook who won seven gold medals and one silver medal from the two Masters events.
Not done with yet, Western Athletics also performed well at the Australian Junior Track and Field Championships, with 25 competitors taking home one gold medal, one silver medal and three bronze medals.
There were also 19 top ten finishes throughout the event.
The gold medal was won by Julia Bourke, who established herself as a future national representative by taking out top honours in the Under 17 Girls shot-put.
What makes the win even more impressive is that Bourke has only competed in athletics for one year.
