WYNDHAM City Council has appealed for residents to be careful on the road this week, with school speed restrictions coming back into action.
With many children returning from holidays, drivers once again have to travel at 40km between 8-9.30am and 2.30-4pm.
Wyndham Mayor Kim McAliney said there were approximately 40,000 school-aged children in the municipality this year.
“That’s a large part of our community who are going to school, and it’s our responsibility as drivers to help keep them safe by obeying the school speed zones,” she said.
“Never double park near the school gate and keep clear of the children’s crossings by leaving 20m clear on the approach side and 10m clear on the departure side to ensure good visibility for users of the crossing.
“School crossing supervisors will also be back in action, assisting young people at intersections. We have 70 school crossing supervisors working every school day in Wyndham and they do a great job.”
