WYNDHAM Council is joining forces with Melbourne Water in an attempt to get residents to build environmentally friendly gardens.
The Raingardens Program aims to see 10,000 raingardens built and registered in backyards across Melbourne.
Raingardens are planted with various deep-rooted native plants and grasses and have various layers of soil and gravel which filter out pollutants found in stormwater runoff that would otherwise be washed into drains and through to rivers, creeks and streams the council said.
