Clean up Wyndham

WYNDHAM residents are being encouraged to contribute to Wyndham’s image by taking part in Clean Up Australia Day.
Several Wyndham sites have been nominated for the national event, which has seen over 200,000 tonnes of rubbish collected nationwide over the past 20 years, Wyndham Council said.
The council is hosting sites at Wyndham Vale and Werribee, with community groups and volunteers cleaning up in Little River, Tarneit, Point Cook and Williams Landing.
Wyndham Mayor Kim McAliney said the event was a great way to show pride in your community.
“Clean Up Australia Day is a great family event, where people can get together with other community members and clean up their suburb,” Cr McAliney said.
“It’s also a reminder of the impacts of dropping litter on the ground, rather than disposing of it in a bin. It ends up in our local parks, waterways and on our streets, not only making our neighbourhoods look unkempt, but also impacting on plant and animal life.
“I encourage residents to get involved in their nearest Clean Up Australia Day and enhance the image of your community, meet your neighbours and improve our waterways and habitat for our wildlife.”
Clean Up Australia Day is on Sunday 4 March. Visit www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au for locations and times.
