Wyndham Council has announced that some of Wyndham’s biggest road projects are drawing nearer to completion, with the finishing touches being added in the coming weeks.
The duplication of Sayers Rd between Tarneit and Derrimut roads is due for completion in late April.
Once complete, the road will cater for increased traffic volumes and will include the installation of traffic signals at two intersections and the construction of a footpath to improve pedestrian access. The project was delayed late last year following problems with underground services, the co-ordination of undergrounding the electricity and industrial action by employees of one of the contractors that was unrelated to the project.
Wyndham Mayor Kim McAliney said the works were key projects in the City’s $33.36 million road and pavements capital works budget.
“As many motorists will notice when they are driving past these sites, they are almost complete and only require finishing touches,” Cr McAliney said.
“When these projects are completed in the coming weeks, it will help to ease traffic congestion and improve access to nearby housing estates. Until this time, motorists are reminded to adhere to any applicable changes in speeds or detours.”
