Pain of parking

A WERRIBEE resident claims she has copped three parking fines despite playing by the rules.
Werribee resident Vita Giorlando, who works at a business on Watton St, said she received three parking fines despite moving her car to a different parking spot every day.
Ms Giorlando told Star that every day she parks in a four hour bay in the car park near Kelly Park.
On her lunch break she drives her car out of the bay and moves it to a different space.
“I go out and do what I have to do and then I come back and find an alternative car park in the same vicinity, but it is never the same car park,” Ms Giorlando said.
Ms Giorlando received three parking fines between 16 April and 5 July.
“I know I had moved my car and the fines were issued after I had only been there for two hours, so I know it is not right,” she said.
“They said they have got images to show that the infringements were issued correctly but they won’t release them to me.
“I’m not happy with the way they have handled it.”
Wyndham Council’s Manager of Business Services Tony Addley said due to privacy reasons he could not comment on Ms Giorlando’s case specifically.
“Victorian road rules require that when moving a parked vehicle to another parking spot, the driver must move the vehicle off the length of road, or out of the area, to which the particular parking sign applies,” Mr Addley said.
“Wyndham City uses a range of methods to identify vehicles that have overstayed in a parking spot. These methods have been accepted by the Courts as fair and valid proof of overstays.”
