THE Werribee Centrals were given the ideal pre-finals tune-up in the Geelong and District Football League, smashing Winchelsea by 182 points.
Werribee booted five goals in the first quarter to race away to a 32-point lead and it was smooth sailing from that point on.
The biggest challenge for players was being forced to contend with the tough conditions, as the ground was covered in mud following a week of wet and wild weather.
In total, 29 goals were kicked by the Centrals throughout the day with a six-goal haul to Craig Rosenzweig one of many highlights.
Other players to cash in on the undermanned defence included Phillip Jones (five goals) and Tyren Montebruno (four goals).
Around the ground Brendan Chugg was a standout, winning a number of important contests in the 29.16 (190) to 1.2 (8) win.
While Winchelsea’s season now comes to a close, Werribee has rocketed into the finals after finishing the season in fourth spot on the GDFL ladder.
The Centrals had a 12-5 win/loss record for the season as well as one nail-biting draw.
They will take on East Geelong this Sunday in an elimination final, while Thomas and Bannockburn fight it out for a place in the second week of finals.
East Geelong will also go into the match high on confidence after smashing Corio by 121 points on Saturday.
Werribee and East Geelong finished the season on the same number of wins.
