LAST Wednesday students from Wyndham Park Primary School gathered for an event that comes around once a year. The students lined up in a single file and as they looked around saw a multitude of characters from their favourite written tales come to life. The costume parade, which included, from left, Kuryzah, Paige, Jordan, Badri, Brandon, Josh and Kye, was organised as part of Book Week, a national celebration that highlights the importance of reading and celebrates outstanding books for children. The festival, which is now in its 67th year, is the longest running children’s festival in Australia. The students were encouraged to dress-up as their favourite fictional character with a prize rewarded for best costume after the parade. Along with their teacher’s student’s participated in a number of fun activities throughout the day. 86068 Picture: JOE MASTROIANNI
