EIGHT men and women from the western suburbs have been charged following a bloody attack that left three people with stab wounds in Point Cook.
As reported by Star last month, on Tuesday 2 October at around 10.30pm it is alleged that the group assaulted three victims at a house in Waves Drive.
A 29-year-old man from Point Cook was transported to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with moderate injuries.
Two women, aged 30 and 26, from Point Cook and Truganina were transported to The Alfred Hospital with moderate injuries.
Detective Senior Constable Trevor Renden from Werribee Police previously told Star that it was believed the victims and attackers were all related and the incident was the result of a “longstanding family feud”.
Detectives executed five search warrants at residential premises in Hillside, Point Cook, Sanctuary Lakes, St Albans and Tullamarine over the last three weeks.
Eight people have been charged with intentionally cause serious injury and affray. They have been bailed to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 8 January 2013.
The people charged were three men from Point Cook aged 18, 19 and 24, a 28-year-old man from Sanctuary Lakes, a 33-year-old man from Hillside, a 25-year-old woman from Point Cook, a 27-year-old woman from Sanctuary Lakes and a 30-year-old woman from Hillside.
Wyndham Police Acting Inspector Damien Christensen said his team had worked hard to charge the people involved in the assault.
“We encourage people to report all assaults, particularly if they are family violence related so that we can work to resolve the issues through intervention,” Acting Insp Christensen said.
“These charges are the result of the excellent work of Wyndham CIU (Crime Investigation Unit) throughout this investigation.”
