Kids get active after school

THE City of Maribyrnong will host fun after school sporting events for primary school kids in Braybrook and Footscray this month.
The Twilight Sports Evening Carnivals, organised through the council’s Just a Minute (JAM) for Kids program will run at Braybrook Primary, Footscray West Primary and Footscray Primary. A program was hosted at Dinjerra Primary in February.
Maribyrnong mayor Michael Clarke said sporting activities build young people’s self esteem, promotes teamwork and prevents childhood obesity.
“To develop a dynamic and active program of sport, council’s JAM for Kids program staff collaborated with the host organisation, Tabloid Sports Carnival and the schools involved,” he said.
All school children and their families are invited to take part in the activities.
Volunteers from the National Australia Bank, IBM and ANZ Bank will marshal the activities. The program is funded by the Federal Government.
Carnival times: 1 March, 4pm-7.30pm at Braybrook Primary; 8 March, 4pm-7.30pm at Footscray West Primary; 15 March, 4pm-7.30pm at Footscray Primary.
