Party noise complaint

A PARTY in Port Macquarie has left a neighbour disgruntled, after he lodged several noise and damage complaints with police.
Port Macquarie resident Tony Smith contacted police over a noise complaint at a neighbouring household party on Saturday 29 June.
Mr Smith said he made four calls to Port Macquarie police from 9.30pm through to 2am and the police visited the area each time to speak to him and those holding the party.
“I rang the police the first time at about 9.30pm as the party was getting louder and had approached a ridiculous stage and could be heard over my TV at the rear of our house,” Mr Smith said.
“It had got noisier by the minute over the preceding hour so we thought it was time to modify the situation as is our right.”
According to Mr Smith, those at the party turned the music up again once the police left.
“The music went down and the screaming and swearing died away, police left and within five minutes the stereo was put up even louder by turning the volume up and down and the vocal noise began,” he said.
Mr Smith has also raised concerns over his house being egged and a bottle thrown at it on the same night.
Port Macquarie police inspector Paul Fuller said the incident was unfortunate but that there was insufficient evidence in the matter.
“There are numerous noise complaints stemming from parties each weekend and in this case the police attended the area each time we were called,” Insp Fuller said.
“The egg throwing may well be related to the party but we can’t take action without any evidence of who it actually was.”
