Port City Leagues wrapped up its two-day game against Camden Haven with first innings points in their Hastings Cricket 1st Grade match to consolidate 3rd spot on the table.
Leagues had a first innings lead of 104 after dismissing the Havens for 91 (Kyle Bray 3/12, Daniel Byrnes 3/20 and Mitch Dick 2/28 while Keegan Glavurdic grabbed 4 catches and a stumping).
City declared at 1/104 in their second dig with opener Byrnes 72 not out.
Port City then went for an outright victory. However, Camden Haven managed to hold off the Port City attack finishing the day on 6/170 (Sam Connelly 2/29 and Josh Kew 2/48). The 2nd Grade Port City side notched up their 3rd successive win defeating the Pirates by 9 runs.
Leagues made 166 with Craig Grant top scoring with 47 supported by Cameron Chick (26) and Greg Hall (21).
Pirates opening batsman Fred Dickson dislocated his knee during the run chase and, with the extended delay due to his treatment by ambulance officers on the pitch, the target was revised to 144 off 32 overs.
Chick then demolished the top order with some clever spin bowling and grabbed 4/30 and along with Darren Hall (2/19) and Dave Stone (2/22) had the Pirates all out for 135.
City’s 3rd Grade team lost by 8 wickets to Camden Haven with Kurt Crane picking up 2 wickets.
On Sunday the Salvation Army Big Bash for Cash & Barbie at Westport Park raised in excess of $4500 with all money to assist flood victims.
The Southern Cross Stars defeated the Night Owl Painters in the final to go through the cricket tournament undefeated.
The event was supported by 2MCFM, NBN-TV and The Westport Club who simultaneously held a fundraising Bowls Challenge that raised $1600 alone.
A big thank you to all the teams involved along with local businesses and individuals who donated their time, money and/or various items.
