Mid Coast Care celebrates windfall

Mid Coast Care/ACES has 15,000 reasons to celebrate.
The organisation will receive that amount in dollars, coming up trumps in the Port Macquarie Panthers/Tooheys Renovate Your Community in 2011 grant challenge.
There was an overwhelming response from the community this year, with over 51,000 votes being received in total and Mid Coast Care/ACES worked extremely hard to receive majority votes to secure the $15,000 grant, the grant committee said.
Mid Coast Care/ACES will use the grant to:
* Refurbish the Mid Coast Care/ACES Café
* Re-design work area so as to increase work space
* Purchase and install: a food display fridge, a drinks fridge, an induction cook top stove that will be safe for people with disabilities to use, ceiling     fans and lights to work areas, a cold tap with filtered water, lockers for  ACES volunteers and staff
* Design and install signage for MCC café and Bargain Centre
* Construct a paved area near the verandah
* Build a counselling/welfare interview room that meets counselling standards.
All participating groups will receive $1000 as part of the program, with the exception of the major grant recipient.
Panthers and Tooheys thanked all participating organisations: Douglas Vale Conservation Group; Hastings Men’s Shed Inc; Port Macquarie Marine Rescue; Mid Coast Care/ACES; Port Macquarie Rotary Clubs and Wauchope-Bonny Hills Surf Lifesaving Club.
Organisers also thanked the media and the wider community for their support and contributions.
