Port Macquarie’s Artists and Farmers Markets have combined to emerge as the newly named Foreshore Market operating from Westport Park where it is attracting broad community participation, not just from artists and farmers but other key community groups.
“We’ve always wanted the market to be a place for the community to meet and share information and regularly invite various groups to promote and raise funds for their cause,” said coordinators, Sonia Fingleton and Necia Waghorn.
“In recent months we have hosted the Hastings Cancer Trust, in April we will welcome the The Rockpool School, who will be highlighting Autism Awareness Month and, occasionally the Port Macquarie Fire Brigade also joins us with a gleaming fire engine – a hit with young and old.
“These markets are all about supporting local farmers, food producers and artists, minimising our carbon footprint and providing a relaxed social shopping experience in a fabulous central location.”
The newly named Foreshore Market is now settled into its permanent home on the banks of the Hastings River at Westport Park, open on the second Saturday of each month from 8am to 1pm.
