Climate change effort on agenda

In reply to Don Campbell’s letter published 17 April.  Mr Campbell is “one who maintains doubt and disbelief” to the science of anthropogenic climate change.  So, by definition, he is a sceptic. Mr Campbell needs to be reminded that this issue is not about what he thinks and his right to opinionate those thoughts.
It is about compelling scientific evidence that indicates that the trends of global warming are indisputable and that the main reason for the unbalancing of the climate’s equilibrium is higher concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.  The major cause of the increase in greenhouse gases is the ever increasing emissions from the industry, land use and transport sectors of the world’s combined economies.
Mr Campbell suggests that we should study the scattered writings of the radical climate deniers, who don’t even come together as a group with a name, an address or a phone number. They are totally unaccountable, rely on uncoordinated information from sources that suit their agenda, and are doing us all an injustice with their ignorance and manipulation of facts.
Great efforts are being made worldwide to reduce the worst impacts of climate change and Australia must play its proportional part. Pricing pollution is the most cost effective beginning to this process, as agreed by both sides of parliament, at different stages over the last two years.
