Comboyne, Beechwood and Lake Cathie/Bonny Hills rugby league football clubs are in hot water.
The Clubs were fined a total of $5800 for playing unregistered players in “trial” games at a recent Hastings Rugby League Football meeting.
Trevor Parker from the Lake Cathie/Bonny Hills Club said, although the Hastings League is the second oldest competition in Australia (ARL being the oldest), the Hastings League Competition is only a Saturday Pub competition with clubs financed from “chook” raffles and pub or club sponsorship.
“Hastings League Clubs are trying to promote rugby league throughout the Port Macquarie Camden Haven area and provide entertainment at affordable prices to families where work opportunities are limited; and the fines could result in all three clubs withdrawing from the 2011 competition,” Mr Parker said.
