WHAT you put in your window has the ability to increase sales and improve the streetscape. That’s what business owners will be told as part of an interactive workshop in Footscray this month.
The Australian Retail Services consultancy group will be sharing trade tips and skills at the visual merchandising workshop during the Energise Enterprise 07 – Victoria’s Small Business Festival.
Maribyrnong City Council mayor Michael Clarke said the free workshop would teach businesses techniques and strategies to improve customer satisfaction and product sales.
“Good visual merchandising benefits businesses through increased sales, but it also creates a more interesting and appealing streetscape for everyone who visits shopping strips and centres within the municipality,” he said.
Cr Clarke said visual merchandising is more that using mannequins to display clothing, it includes the use of lighting, space, signage, counter displays to create the right image for your business.
“We hope that all our local businesses will take advantage of this free opportunity to learn some proven tricks of the trade and inject some fresh ideas into their businesses,” he said.
The workshop will be held Tuesday 21 August from 3pm to 5pm at the council offices on the corner of Napier and Hyde streets in Footscray.
