Fairy Godmother and friends make wishes come true

Residents Tricia Falconer-Nyberg, alongside Beth Everson and Diane Pignolet, are literally the Fairy Godmothers of Port Macquarie, raising $4490 to create a beautiful fairy garden at “Port Oncology”.
“Two young men, Bill and James Molton, agreed to paint the beautiful murals,”
Tricia said.
“We had gardens removed, Bunnings donated the pavers and Glenn Davidson did the hard work of laying them for us.”
Tricia said her friend Heather Sheers donated two beautiful sparkling star wind chimes in memory of her mother and sister who died of cancer.
“My husband Ray Nyberg built the wishing well and my daughters Rose Watson and Michelle Birrer decorated it,” Tricia said.
“This was in memory of my beautiful daughter Marie-Elaina Franza, aged 13, lost with a brain tumour.”
“To all the kind, generous people who donated in any way by gift or hard work, our heartfelt thanks go out to you.
“With money left over we were able to go 50/50 with Harvey Norman and buy two flat screen TVs and two DVDs for the two common rooms at Rotary Lodge for the comfort of families staying there for treatment, still leaving money for Oncology to use,” Tricia said..
But Tricia’s fundraising efforts have not stopped there.
Last week she helped to hold a fundraising dinner at Café 66 to raise money for high school student Sarah Bisco.
Sarah is in the United Kingdom undergoing treatment for eye melanoma.
“My group Can Assist Mid-North Coast raises funds for local families who have cancer,” Tricia said.
“We are all volunteers and have started the fundraiser by donating $1000.
“Between the dinner, donations and raffle we raised $7075.”
