New Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams, had her say on the first day of State Parliament last week.
During the first question time she asked the Deputy Premier to detail the Government’s plans to deliver regional infrastructure and services across the State.
In answering Mrs Williams’ question, Deputy Premier and Member for Oxley, Andrew Stoner, told the House: “There will be a $500 million rollout of health infrastructure to regional centres including Dubbo, Parkes, Forbes, Tamworth, Wagga Wagga and Port Macquarie—projects for which the member has long campaigned.
“When it comes to regional infrastructure and services, the New South Wales Liberals and Nationals will restore the balance in government: 30 per cent of additional infrastructure spending will be spent in regional New South Wales, as determined by Infrastructure NSW, which will also have regional representation on its board.
“Transport will be an obvious priority for roads and rail right across the State.”
Mrs Williams said, “I have been fighting for a bigger share of the State’s infrastructure funds to be spent in regional areas like the Port Macquarie electorate.
“We have a range of infrastructure projects that we are committed to, including the redevelopment of Port Macquarie Base Hospital, the replacement of Stingray Creek Bridge and the building of a primary school at Lake Cathie,” Mrs Williams said.
