Sculptural Forms intrigue visitors

Sculptural forms which seem to slither, float and ooze will fascinate and intrigue visitors to the Glasshouse Gallery’s latest exhibition.
Sculptural Forms is an exhibition of the works by an international mix of sculptors: Bill Thompson from USA, Julia Davis from Australia, Stephan Marienfeld from Germany and Germany’s  Venske & Spanle who work in NYC and Munich.
The 35 works of these five international artists, from the Conny Dietzschold Gallery Sydney, explore a diverse path of subjects and materials but each artist has created works which belie the true material from which they are made.
Stephan Marienfeld creates solid weighty forms which have monumental impact but are in fact created from lightweight materials.
Venske & Spanle’s organic ‘smurfs’, are so fluid and life-like they appear to slither across the floor, despite being constructed from heavy marble.
Bill Thompson’s highly coloured acrylic urethane and lustre surfaces float  upwards on the wall; while Julia Davis’s sculptures create their own dynamic space — leaving no evidence of their true material of blown and mirrored glass.
Sculptural Forms is on view at the Glasshouse Gallery until June 19.
The Exhibition opening is at 2pm on Saturday, May 14.
Special guest speaker is Conny Dietzschold, Gallery Director from the Conny Dietzschold Galleries Sydney/Cologne.
Drinks and canapes will be provided.
Adults $10, members $5.
RSVP essential by Thursday, May 12 on 6581 8888.
