In response to Drusi Megget (CO2 part of nature, Your Letters, April 28) CO2 is not a pollutant and is not out of balance. There has been documented evidence in the Your Letters column by many readers who have proved logically and scientifically that humans contribute less than one per cent CO2 into the atmosphere. Her statement that “anyone who refuses to understand this wisdom, ask your doctor what would be the effect on your health if you doubled your medication” is not a good analogy. Doubling your medication would probably be fatal but doubling CO2 emissions would bring it to less than four per cent of atmospheric gases.
Ms Megget has disregarded the effect sunspots have had on the warming of the planet from the time of the Vikings until the present; and little ice ages which have occurred periodically before the industrial age.
