Retired business professional John Davies has recently resigned from his position on the Willing & Able Foundation Board after 10 years.
Willing & Able Foundation provides employment opportunities for people with a disability in the Hastings.
John, who is also a board member of the Community College, contributes to our local community in many other ways as a volunteer and is renowned as a local who is passionate about what’s best for our community.
A barbecue lunch was held on Friday to farewell John and thank him for his contribution.
John first became involved with Willing & Able Foundation (formerly known as Hastings Foundation) in 1999 when his son (since passed away) Hugh Davies came to work in the assembly and packaging section of the Foundation.
John offered his services to serve on the Board as a Director in 2000 and continued to serve as Director for four years and as President for seven years.
John brought with him a wealth of knowledge and expertise based on his previous work history and life experiences.
John retired from the Foundation Board in March 2011.
Since being associated with Willing & Able, John has taken the Foundation to new heights benefitting our supported employees, staff and the Foundation as a whole.
In 2007, along with the Board, John led the Foundation onto another exciting level by changing the name and face of the Foundation.
This involved an enormous amount of time on John’s behalf and the benefits for the Foundation since this change have been substantial.
The time John has given and his solid commitment assisted the Foundation over the last 11 years.
In addition, John has always made himself available at a moment’s notice if any situations arose needing his expertise in any number of areas.
John’s commitment to the Willing & Able Foundation and his ongoing compassion and understanding of our ‘special people’ is acknowledged and admired by all who know him.
