50,000 books at reader’s paradise

The organisers of the annual Rotary Book Sale, to be held on May 20, 21 and 22, are expecting to have about 50,000 books on site this year, 10,000 more than in 2010.
The annual sale is organised by the Rotary Club of Port Macquarie to aid local charities.
This year’s much anticipated event will be held at Port Panthers in the Main Auditorium.
Members of the club have been sorting books each week at the Hastings River Drive site, part of the new Rotary Community Centre completed only in the past few months.
More than 20 categories have been determined.
These include fiction, art, religion, history and education, as well as children’s books, to name a few.
CDs will also be available this year.
The first day of the book sale will coincide with the inaugural Hat Day, designed to promote the work of Rotary and Australian Rotary Health in addressing medical issues in the community.
The Sale times are:
Friday, May 20:         5pm to 8pm
Saturday, May 21:     9am to 8pm
Sunday, May 22:       9am to 12pm
