Port Panthers is the Wintersun Rockabilly Headquarters for the duration of the festival. Yet not everything is straight up rock-roll.
International acts like Marti Brom from Austin USA, John Lewis from England and Deke Dickinson from LA will be performing, together with some of the cream of Australian rockabilly bands including Melbourne based The Straight 8’s. The Straight 8’s may well be Australia’s oldest rockabilly band, having played together for over 25 years.
On Sunday, June 12, Panthers swaps the Rockabilly tag for Swing Sensation — a fantastic night of Swing with three big bands including The Kalamunda Youth Swing Band from Perth, Harry DeLuxe and also from Perth The Darling Buds Of May.
With three full live bands, this will be a sensational night of 1940s’-style swing where the audience can dress to the nines and jitterbug the night away.
Adelaide based swing band Lucky Seven will also be part of the swing section of Wintersun and can be seen as part of the fantastic free entertainment spread from Westport Park to the Glasshouse over the long weekend of June 11-12.
If you enjoy cars, music and having a great time, then Wintersun is the place to be from June 3 -13. Check out the website www.wintersun.org.au.
