A popular Port Macquarie club has cleaned up at the ClubsNSW Awards for Excellence dinner in Sydney recently.
The Westport Club won the highly converted Encouragement of Amateur sport award and Outstanding Community Service in the medium-club categories. The win for Encouragement of Sport is the second time the Westport Club who also won in 2009.
The Club was awarded the title this year for their focus on promoting good physical health, mental health, social connectivity and aspiration towards achievement.
The Outstanding Community Service award also went to the Westport Club for its dedication for not just financially assisting local community groups but for providing expertise to help make these organisations more effective in working at the local level.
The Club also has a dedicated full time community coordinator for administering community activities, launched their own Write To Read Program to improve childhood literacy and donated money for new technology to 11 local schools for software and training for teachers.
