Nurses seek the truth

Local nurses and union representatives have pushed for a meeting with Member for Port Macquarie, Leslie Williams, to discuss the Government’s wages policy, to which she has agreed.
“I understand the nurses union met last week to discuss the issue. I am more than happy to meet with the union or any nurses to personally clarify the Government’s position,” Mrs Williams said.
“Under a Memorandum of Understanding, which the NSW Liberals & Nationals supported, nurses will receive three salary increases of 9.4 per cent over three years.
“There will be no change to the existing wages approach introduced by the former government which requires any increase to wages and conditions above 2.5 per cent to be funded from employee related savings,” Mrs Williams said.
“We will continue with the existing salary increases and work with Local Health Districts for additional increases from July 1, 2013,” Mrs Williams said.
“For the record, can I make it very clear that I fully support nurses, police and teachers and to say otherwise is simply wrong.”
