Popular choral singing troupe Hastings Choristers commemorates a milestone achievement in 2011 – a continuous twenty-one years of entertaining audiences and ‘sharing the joy of song’ since the group’s foundation in 1990.
The occasion will be marked by a special concert at 8pm on Saturday, June 18 at the Glasshouse. The concert — simply and appropriately entitled ‘Celebrate’ — will feature an extensive repertoire of classical and contemporary choral favourites which have delighted audiences throughout the Hastings and wider afield in Sydney, Melbourne, Newcastle and Canberra over the years of performances. The concert will also see the official launch of ‘Our Story — Hastings Choristers 1990-2010’, a commemorative book detailing the history, people and many memorable moments which have taken place.
Acclaimed Baritone, Rob MacDougall, will present compelling versions of songs from musical theatre. Baritone Jim Matsinos strikes a comic note with his presentation of Master of the House from Les Miserables while 13-year-old Stella Hannock delivers a stunning version of The Beatles’ Blackbird. ‘Cantorus’, the large mixed voice choir, will open and close the ‘Celebrate’ concert with mesmerising renditions of favourite pieces. No Hastings Choristers concert would be complete without the very popular Cantabile female ensemble.
Tickets to ‘Celebrate’ at the Glasshouse on June 18 include a souvenir program and are $35 adults, $30 concessions, $20 children.
