Stage 1 works on the $25 million Southern Arm Trunk Main water pipeline continue, with the next phase of construction works to include the installation of the large 750mm trunkmain, which extends this new pipeline from Houston Mitchell Drive and Bonny View Drive to the Bonny Hills reservoir.
Residents are advised that heavy trucks commenced delivering and unloading sections of pipe in the Bonny Hills area from
June 21.
These pipe deliveries may result in some disruption to traffic along Ocean Drive and McGilvray Road. The Southern Arm Trunk Main is a significant project for Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, with the pipeline to eventually transfer water directly from Cowarra Dam to Lake Cathie, Bonny Hills and Camden Haven areas and also back into the Port Macquarie Dam.
The first stage of the water supply pipeline has been constructed along Ocean Drive from Lake Cathie to Houston Mitchell Drive in Bonny Hills.
This next section of work will greatly increase the capacity of water currently transferred south from Port Macquarie’s Transit Hill reservoir as Area 14 develops.
Council has funded Stage 1 of this project with a $7.9 million State Government interest-free loan.
When completed, the 13.8km trunk main will supply water directly from Cowarra Dam into the Lake Cathie, Bonny Hills and Camden Haven areas and will also allow water to be transferred into the Port Macquarie Dam in times of need.
The total estimated cost of these construction works is $25 million and will be staged over the next 10 years.
