Three armed robberies

A spate of armed robberies have taken place in the region.
Last Wednesday at about 7pm a man wearing a balaclava and armed with a knife demanded money from a video store employee at the Emerald Downs Shopping Centre on Ocean Dve.
The employee handed over an amount of money and the culprit fled on foot.
On Thursday at about 2pm, it is alleged the same man, wearing a balaclava and armed with a knife, jumped the counter at the Post Office at the Lighthouse Beach community shops.
An accomplice kept watch at the door, also wearing a balaclava and armed with a knife.
The man inside the Post Office allegedly jumped the counter and removed a cash tray before attempting to flee.
Detective Senior Constable David Halverson said the man dropped the cash tray and knife and fled on foot with his accomplice towards Anderson St.
They jumped into a car, he said, and drove a short distance before fleeing on foot.
They were captured by police soon after on Ocean Dve.
The men were taken to Port Macquarie Police Station where they were questioned and charged with armed robbery and refused bail,to appear in Local Court.
In an unrelated incident, a man armed with a knife demanded money at a service station in Laurieton at about 5.30am on Friday morning.
The man fled the scene with an amount of cash and is still at large.
