Shield stays on home turf

Wauchope High School has recently rallied to win  the 36th year of the Jack Parsons Memorial Shield annual clash against Sydney’s Cumberland High School.
With the rain holding off for most games, both schools used their  50 chosen boys and girls for debating and to play a variety of sports.
While  Cumberland won the debating,  junior boys soccer and senior girls softball,  Wauchope powered ahead to secure the 38 to 6 win. The Senior Boys soccer was a particularly close game, as Cumberland fielded a number of strong players and the 1-0 score to Wauchope reflected the tense competition that existed between the two teams.
The continuation of this annual two school competition strengthens the tie that Wauchope High holds with the Wauchope community, with business owner Jack Parsons (from Parsons Bus Company) donating the shield and future generations of his family continuing to make the presentation to the winning school.
Both his son Neville Parsons and his two children Jamie and Brad have both completed their education at Wauchope High. Neville presented the plagues for Most Valued Male player to Wauchope’s  Jack Lewis  and Female Player  Holly Lewis .
