You too could be shocked

You never really know who your ancestors actually are until you start researching.
As a recent visitor of the Port Macquarie & Districts Family History Society said: “We had never heard the word convict mentioned in the family and only found out when we started researching our family history. Just as well it isn’t a disgrace anymore. John was from Tipperary, Ireland and his crime was nothing simple like stealing a loaf of bread, he was convicted of highway robbery.”
Who will you find?
You can join the Port Macquarie & Districts Family History Society for a free “Learn how to start your family history” session to help celebrate National Family History Week.
Drop in between 10am and 12 noon on Friday, August 5 at Port Macquarie-Hastings Library Meeting Room to get started. The Society volunteers can show you how to chase your ancestors the time-honoured way (without a computer) and can also introduce you to Ancestry.com.au and lots of other sources of information on the computers.
You too can become another family detective.
