Search begins for next Cadel Evans

North Coast Academy of Sport (NCAS), with the support of Cycling NSW and the underpinning north coast cycling associations, is interested in identifying and developing talented junior Cycling athletes on the North Coast of NSW.
If you, your child, or someone you know is looking to become the next cycling champion or even just wish to improve your cycling skills, NCAS is looking for you.
To be eligible for the NCAS cycle program, it is desirable that the applicant meet the following criteria:
1. Be born between 1993 — 1999
2. Reside in the North Coast region
3. Complete and submit an application form by 5.00pm Friday, August 12, 2011
4. Committed to attend weekly training rides if required.
5. Be a member, or in the process of becoming a member, of a NSW Cycling Club within three weeks of being selected into the NCAS Cycling Program.
The NCAS Cycling Program this year will be utilising a two tier system. The two tiers have been developed to more specifically meet the needs of athletes, based on their skills level and experience.
In addition to the new format for the program, Cycling NSW has appointed Shane Hulbert as the Head Coach of the program. Shane has been a Level 2 Road and Track Coach for five years and is also a Level 1 Commissaire.
To aid the athletes, Shane, along with the rest of the NCAS coaching team, will ensure that the athletes have a sound foundation by having the correct position on their bike, ensure that they develop a solid training base as they race though the grades, and that they have optimal function for peak performance in the hope that one day we see the athletes compete at state, national or international level
Application forms and further information about the program can be downloaded from www.ncas.org.au
