Proving that the Country Women’s Association is “more than tea and scones” the members of the Evening Branch Port Macquarie, recently visited the Women and Children’s Refuge to donate huge baskets of toiletry bags and knitted teddies.
Spokesperson for the Refuge, Jenna Bamborough-Lahey, thanked the Branch for their efforts.
“The Branch’s ongoing support of women and children affected by domestic violence is very much appreciated”, she said.
“The teddies will help to swell the ranks at the Teddy Bears Picnic Day to be held next month.”
The CWA also has a big day on the calendar next month with the activities for the statewide Awareness Day being held on September 14. Evening Branch members will be showing the public that “CWA is Fascinating” at two functions being organised for the day.
Everyone is invited to join the fun at the Governors Resort, River Park Road, at either of the two events; a morning tea and official opening will take place at 10am and an evening wine with cheese and biscuits will get underway at 5.30pm.
