Gym gets pumped to donate

Local fitness centre, Life Express, is getting pumped to support local blood donation.
They have joined other local fitness centres in the Australian Red Cross Blood Service Gyms Challenge 2011.
Staff and members of local fitness centres are encouraged to donate blood between October 1 and November 30.
In Port Macquarie, the donor centre needs to collect over 200 blood donations every week to meet patient needs.
These blood donations are needed for people with cancer, stomach and bowel disease and nursing mothers, just to name a few.
With blood stocks in New South Wales almost half what they should be, Life Express Fitness Centre took the opportunity to invite Port Macquarie Donor Centre Manager, Ronnie Williams, to speak to members and staff about the importance of blood donation during the launch of a new exercise class recently.
“There was an extremely positive response from everyone at the class and we look forward to Life Express and all our local gyms rolling up their sleeves and donating blood when the Gyms Challenge starts on October 1,” Mrs Williams said.
There are prizes for the gym that makes the most donations in total.
