Light ahead for landmark

Formalised walking paths and improved access, interpretive signage and an ongoing maintenance program for the Lighthouse  are all elements of the draft Tacking Point Lighthouse Reserve master plan.
Council’s Director of Infrastructure Service Jeffery Sharp said, “Some of the challenges that the master plan seeks to overcome are the combination of stylish, safe and functional access for pedestrians and cars, along with management of the site’s heritage and ecological significance.”
The master plan, which takes into account  feedback from the Community Forum and supports the site’s Conservation Management Plan, will now be on public exhibition till October 28. The master plan can be viewed from Council’s website and offices.
