Girls tough it out

The 8th Annual Mid-North Coast Girls Surf Classic, proudly hosted by the Mid-North Coast Girls Surfriders Club, is being held on Saturday, October 8 and Sunday October 9 at Rainbow Beach, Bonny Hills.
Currently there are 50 competitors, many local and some travelling from as far as the Gold Coast, Lennox Heads and the South Coast of NSW.
Lyn Worland from Sawtell is returning to this year’s Classic, hoping to retain her 2010 title in the Global Industries Over 50s longboard event.
Pocket sized dynamite Alyssa Lock from Tweed Heads is fired up to retain her 2010 title in the Essential Energy Under 14 Shortboard; and Mid-North Coast Girls local Kelly Fyfe has two titles to retain in the Sandyfeet Mini Mal and the Goody Surfboards Over 40s longboard.
Vice President of Mid-North Coast Girls Surfriders and Surf Classic Contest Director Jo Astorini has implemented a unique contest format that encourages all girls and women, regardless of their age or ability, to compete in a non-threatening environment.
All competitors have the chance to surf two rounds in their respective divisions, therefore encouraging consistency over the two-day contest.

Mid-North Coast Girls Surf-riders host a mega raffle on the Saturday night, where Longboards, Shortboards and surfing para-phernalia and equipment are up for grabs.
