Having read your fine paper of Thursday, October 13 – which incidentally, I’m pleased will continue to be published – I was greatly disappointed that your letter page was taken up with the long-winded rant of Don Campbell re the vexed carbon tax debate.
I agree he is entitled to his view but please, please exercise editorial control over such filibustering letters where little room is left for other letters. Your indulgence suggests a bias regarding the carbon tax debate which I think is regrettable. True, Mr Campbell’s rant would have been lapped up by like-minded people who want their beliefs reinforced, but I do think your letters page ought to be available to as many letters (on as many diverse topics) as space will allow.
I struggled through Mr Campbell’s letter because, despite what he and his ‘flat earth’ disciples might wish to misrepresent regarding global warming, I wanted to at least give him the benefit of the doubt, but what a turgid bloated hysterical missive it was.
Please Editor, exercise discretion with regard to the length of letters and leave room for other topics and views.
