Port’s writing scene is abuzz with the news that a local author is about to launch her first collection.
Gill Goater, who has lived in Port Macquarie since 1994, will be launching her book of poetry ‘Occupied by Gods’ on Wednesday, October 26 at the Port Macquarie Library from 10.30am until 11.30am.
The inspiration for her poetry, she said, stems from an appreciation of nature and the wild seascapes of her childhood and the coastal panoramas of the Hastings.
In addition, studies in literature, linguistics and transpersonal psychology offer a good source of topics, Gill said.
As a member of the Fellowship of Australian Writers (FAW) Gill’s been published in several anthologies and was awarded prizes and commendations in competitions.
She also won the first Hasting Osmosis Poetry Competition.
The poems in her book have been written over a period of ten years and reflect a variety of themes and styles.
Gill hopes to share this launch with friends and fellow writers or anyone who likes poetry or wants to know a bit more about it.
